Syamananda-satakam Release

It is a pleasure to announce the release of the Syamananda-satakam, composed by Sri Rasikananda Murari and adorned with a beautiful commentary by Sri Baladeva Vidyabhusana. This is the tenth of the latter’s works published under the “Baladeva Vidyabhusana Project.”

In this poem consisting of a hundred verses (satakam), Sri Rasikananda pours out his heart while extolling Syamananda, his beloved spiritual master. This publication is further embellished by three other compositions of Rasikananda:

Bhagavatastakam (Eight Verses Glorifying the Lord’s Devotees) with an elaborate commentary by Bhajanananda Gosvami, who belonged to the fourth generation of Rasikananda’s descendants.

Sadhana-sara-catuh-sloki (Four Verses on the Essence of Worship), which briefly summarises the particular mode of spiritual practice to be followed by Syamananda’s followers.

Kunja-keli-dvadasakam (Twelve Verses on the Pastimes in the Grove), which graphically portrays the author’s personal mode of worship and meditation on Sri Sri Radha-Krsna’s amorous pastimes in Vraja.

The latter two texts have been so far available only in manuscript format.

This edition includes the original Sanskrit texts critically edited based on multiple manuscripts, the Roman transliteration, the original Sanskrit commentaries, a complete English translation of all these, and ample footnotes clarifying technical terminology.
