Srila Prabhupada’s Film Restoration Project is an initiative from the team who brought us the film, ‘Hare Krishna- The Mantra, The Movement, and the Swami Who Started It All’.
The mission of the project is to re-transfer the original ISKCON 16mm films to 4K quality and S-8/8mm films to 2K quality thereby removing scratches and imperfections, frame by frame, and bringing them to” pristine” quality.
The films are currently stored in Washington DC. Colorlab Film Laboratory.
There are two phases of the project. The film transfer to digital video format is PHASE ONE after which the films can be retired to long-term storage at the Bhaktivedanta Archives in North Carolina.
PHASE TWO is the final stage where the digital video copy is sent to a film laboratory in India. There, the video files will be further restored taking out deep scratches and damage to the film emulsion ensuring that each of the 4,060,800 frames of the film is preserved in pristine quality.

Before consideration of any new film projects, there is one that is most important to us, most likely to you and generations long into the future. That is to preserve the forty-seven hours of film of Srila Prabhupada and his ISKCON Movement in the highest quality.”
