On Wednesday, 20th September the High Sheriff of Hertfordshire (this is the highest secular, civilian post in an English county) along with the Mayor of Hertsmere and Cllr Christian Gray visited Gurukula- The Hare Krishna Primary School. This was part of the High Sheriff’s visit to Hertsmere Borough looking at different charities and schools and the work they do in the local area. Her particular interest is in the development of reading which is an important part of the Gurukula curriculum.

The visiting dignitaries visited all the classrooms and spoke to children and teachers in the school as well as being asked questions by the students.
The Mayor and Cllr Gray have invited the children to visit the Mayoral Chambers soon and hope to also return to Gurukula to hear the children read. All three visitors told the children that they had visited Bhaktivedanta Manor during the Janmashtami festival and enjoyed seeing the temple festivities.
