June 28- Tragedy struck during the ‘Phera Rath’ (return chariot) procession of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) in Kumarghat, Tripura, where multiple devotees died of electrocution when a chariot top made contact with a 133kv overhead cable during the parade. The fatal incident occurred around 4:30 pm on Wednesday. Emergency personnel were on hand to help extinguish the flames and give medical aid to victims, many of whom have now been transported to a local hospital.
Different news outlets are reporting the number of deaths between 6-15, with as many as 30 injured. The annual events were hosted by the ISKCON Mandir in Agartala, Tripura, where the presiding deities are Sri Sri Jagannatha, Baladeva, and Subhadra Mataji. This procession marked their return to the Temple after a week of celebrations following the June 20th Ratha Yatra.
We offer our deepest condolences and ask all devotees to say prayers on their behalf. We will share more information as the facts become clear.

Wow, that is so sad… but at the same time, to go in the middle of service to Lord Jagganath must be very fortunate.
Let us send prayers for these devotees!
