In April, we reported on a crowdfunding campaign to fund the installation of a commemorative bench and plaque in honor of Srila Prabhupada at San Francisco’s Stow Lake within Golden Gate Park. The picturesque park was a favorite spot for Srila Prabhupada to circumambulate during his daily morning walks. “One of the great pleasures for devotees in San Francisco was taking these early morning walks with Srila Prabhupada,” said Malati Devi Dasi. “The main place where that occurred was Stowe Lake.”

The Memorial Bench department at the Golden Gate Park Alliance has now placed the plaque and new bench in a lovely location. “This morning walk parikrama location is forever full of Srila Prabhupada’s footprints, speaking and resting places,” said Dhanistha Devi Dasi, “Come visit this holy site, the Prabhupada bench is directly in front of the boathouse with exquisite viewing of the deep green holy Stow Lake Dham.” Golden Gate Park sees more than 24 million visitors annually, making it the third most-visited city park in the United States.

In addition, this bench is a prayer point along the Srila Prabhupada San Francisco Parikrama, which has been beautifully curated by Dhanistha Devi Dasi. For more information about the “Hare Krishna! San Francisco Srila Prabhupada Pilgrimage,” please visit here.
