A Humble Letter

by Śrī Śrīmad Bhaktivedānta Trivikrama Gosvāmī Mahārāja

trivikram

The following dedication appeared at the beginning of “Shower of Love,” published in 1999:

This Humble Treatise is Dedicated to
His Divine Grace
Oṁ Viṣṇupāda Śrī Śrīmad
Bhaktivedānta Trivikrama Gosvāmī Mahāraja

Although we have no qualification for offering or remembering such an exalted personality as Srimad Trivikrama Maharaj, we pray fervently with our utmost sincerity, however meagre, that he please accept this dedication for our benefit and thereby bestow His Divine Shower of innumerable Maha-Bhagavata Blessings on us fallen souls.

Śrīla Bhaktivedānta Trivikrama Gosvāmī Mahārāja wrote the following letter to Śrīla Bhaktivedānta Nārāyaṇa Gosvāmī Mahārāja in reply:

All Glory to SRI SRI GURU AND GOURANGA

To
The Lotus feet of His Holiness Tridandi Swami
Sri Sri Bhakti Vedanta Narayan Maharaj.

Revered Maharaj,

Most respectfully and humbly, I beg to submit, that I feel mostly fortunate for your noble and hearty affection for me, by dedicating the valuable book, “ SHOWER OF LOVE ”, in my name.

But I am highly ashamed and dissatisfied for the attribution of the most noble qualifications on me for which I do not deserve at all. It is highly offensive to consider a wretched person to be a Maha bhagawat or devotee of the highest rank. It is not a truth but it is a downright falsehood and exaggeration.

So my earnest praying to the Lotus feet of all devotees, not consider me so exalted as described in the dedicating note, but to consider [me] as a fallen soul and undergoing the bondage of Maya.

Craving the blessing and foot-dust of all devotees, I am an unworthy servant of the Divine Master and devotees.

B. V. TRIVIKRAM.
